How “near me” search actually works, where we are, and how to judge a development company whether they are around the corner or across the country.
If you have just searched for a software development company near you, here is something worth knowing before you compare the results: search engines answer “near me” using your location and the business profiles around it. No website ranks for that phrase by putting it in its text. So the results you are looking at are a proximity list, not a quality list — and the two are very different things.
That matters because software is one of the few trades where being close by is almost never the deciding factor. What you actually need is someone who will put the scope in writing, fix the price, name a date, and show you working software every week. Distance changes none of that.

Discovery, when the process is complicated and easier to watch than to describe. Handover training for staff who are not comfortable on video. Sectors where you will be handing over physical material — printed catalogues, product samples, hardware.
The build itself. Design review. Testing. Support. All of these are better over a shared link and a weekly demo than over a meeting room, because everything said gets written down and everything shown is the real thing.
A written scope, a fixed price, a named delivery date, and two clients you can phone. Companies that produce all four within a day behave very differently from companies that cannot, regardless of where they sit.
Picking the nearest developer and then never visiting them. It happens constantly. If proximity is not going to change how you actually work together, it should not decide who you hire.

That is why the results change as you move, and why no amount of writing “near me” on a website affects them. If proximity is what you want, Google Maps is the honest tool for it.
For most projects, no. What proximity buys you is the ability to sit in a room, which genuinely helps during discovery and for training your staff at handover. What it does not buy you is quality, speed or accountability — those come from a written scope, a weekly demo of working software and a shared board you can check any time. A company three kilometres away that shows you nothing for eight weeks is the riskier arrangement.

Within the Tricity, yes, and usually within a day or two of asking. Further afield we will travel for kickoff and for handover training where the project justifies it; everything in between runs better over a weekly video call and a live demo link than it does over a long drive.
Ask for four things and watch how quickly they arrive: a written scope, a fixed price, a named delivery date, and two clients you can phone. Then check their Google reviews for recency, not just count. Companies that can produce all four in a day are a different category from companies that cannot, and that difference matters far more than the distance.
No. The quote is the same whether you are in Panchkula or Perth — it is priced on scope, not on postcode. The only thing that changes for a distant client is that travel is quoted separately if you want us on site.
